What We Do

Share Life Gifts Origin

Share Life Gifts, Inc. advances economic equity by increasing access to information, opportunities, and wealth-building resources in African American communities historically impacted by the wealth gap. We do this by matching need to gifts and through building a community that supports such advancement. This is done through sharing resources making it easier for individuals to acquire information in one central location that may  be lacking in such communities, making inaccessible, taboo or insufficient resources available.

SLG, Inc. believes that everyone deserves the opportunity to advance themselves and to be well informed. Providing a one stop place for online community focused on topics that help build the African American Community is a way to contribute to this effort.

The founders of SLG, Inc. are African American women from various educational and professional backgrounds that have experienced and/or witnessed disparity in the community. They have witnessed generations of individuals deprived of opportunities due to the absence of others offering to share information to people in their communities. For growth to occur, allowing for advancement, people must be willing to expand resources to closed communities which will remove barriers. The Covid-19 pandemic increased the need for such support when individuals were forced to work remotely, leveraging technology to continue with business activities. During this time, it became more evident the need for additional resources in the African American Community as women took on more of the at home childcare responsibilities while trying to stay competitive in their careers; while families had to make different decisions about careers due to lack of childcare resources; and while, the misinformation about Covid-19 vaccines plagued our community resulting in vaccine hesitancy likely resulting in higher hospitalizations in the African American Communities and worse the loss of income from one losing a job. The founders lived experiences have shown that they are the right ones to lead this conversation and mission because they witnessed first-hand the negative impacts of not providing informational tools to individuals resulting in no or slow advancement.

The founding board members are professional African American women skilled in the following subject matter expertise's: Nonprofit missions and governance, Financial Wealth Guidance, Law, Education, Grant Review Processes, Program Administration and Hospitality.

As the organization grows, the board seeks to add board members of any race or nationality that desire to support and advance the mission of the organization.
